Power-shelf alarm contacts and diagnostic interconnection
ICS Triplex T8243 is the Power Port diagnostic interface fitted behind the Trusted power shelf. It takes alarm signals from the shelf and installed power packs and presents volt-free contacts for connection to the plant monitoring arrangement.
A separate twenty-four-volt supply powers its electronics and relays. The interface also extends the documented shelf connections to an optional Power Controller or current-sharing interconnect. Match the shelf, external supply, alarm circuits and address jumpers before selecting or replacing the accessory.

T8243 connects the rear of the documented T8240 shelf to the plant alarm wiring. It translates pack and shelf diagnostic signals into volt-free contacts and extends the permitted controller or current-sharing connection; it does not convert mains power.
Match CON1 to the shelf and CON2 to the approved extension; retain using the documented D-sub jack screws. Provide 24 V with a 500 mA F-rated source fuse. CON3 pin 1 is +24 V; pin 6 is the return.
Record J1/J2 and the approved interconnect. Do not join separate A/B supplies or separate busbars.

A matching D-sub connector alone does not establish compatibility or permission to interconnect separate busbars.

Is T8243 a mains power supply module?
No. The manufacturer identifies it as the Power Port diagnostic interface for the power shelf. It requires an external 24 V supply and provides alarm contacts; AC-to-DC conversion is performed by the separate power packs. -
Where does the interface mount?
It plugs into the rear of the documented T8240 power shelf. CON1 provides the shelf connection, and the D-sub jack screws retain the interface. Match the original outline and orientation before fitting. -
What powers the interface?
An external 24 V supply connects through CON3, with +24 V on pin 1 and return on pin 6. The manual specifies a 500 mA F-rated fuse close to the source; the internal fuse is not replaceable. -
What does the DC fail contact represent?
For each pack, the interface combines DCFAIL and over-temperature protection into one DC fail alarm. The corresponding relay de-energises when either alarm is asserted. Use the complete fault table when interpreting a particular condition. -
Are the alarm contacts closed or open when healthy?
The documented contacts are closed when the corresponding fitted pack is healthy and the relay is energised. They open when that alarm relay de-energises. This indication does not replace electrical isolation or prove that equipment is safe to touch. -
Can the contacts switch any external load?
No. The relay table specifies resistive limits of 0.5 A at 125 Vac or 1 A at 24 Vdc, together with maximum switching-power limits. Match the actual circuit to all applicable ratings; do not infer suitability for inductive or larger loads. -
What do the J1 and J2 jumpers select?
They set the shelf address for the control bus. The documented combinations cover up to four shelves and twelve power packs. Both fitted is the first-shelf default; follow the complete address table for the installed arrangement. -
May CON2 link any two power shelves?
No. It extends only the documented controller or current-sharing arrangement. TC-323 must not connect separate A/B supplies or shelves feeding separate busbars. Check the approved topology and leave unused connectors secured.
