The ICS Triplex T8100C and the Trusted TMR System have been independently reviewed and certified by the German certification authority Technischer Überwachungs-Verein (TÜV Rheinland) to meet the requirements of IEC 61508 SIL 3. The ICS Triplex T8100C supports safety-related systems up to Safety Integrity Level 3 (SIL 3), with the conditions and configurations that shall be adhered to clearly defined in the safety manual to remain in compliance with SIL 3 requirements.

The ICS Triplex T8100C implements a triplicated system architecture with defined degraded operation. In a simple triplicated system, the input and output devices are wired to the input and output channels to provide the requisite distribution and voting, with the output vote being a simple majority vote. The ICS Triplex T8100 degrades from 2oo3 (Two-out-of-Three) to 2oo2, and then to 1oo1 fail-safe, ensuring that the system responds predictably and safely as faults accumulate.
