PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Configurable field terminations for fire, gas and valve circuits
ICS Triplex T8842 is a versatile field termination assembly linking field devices to the Trusted zone interface module. Its forty configurable channels accommodate analogue inputs, digital inputs and digital outputs, including circuits associated with fire and gas detection and suppression.
The assembly also interfaces with the Trusted valve monitor module, pairing valve commands with position feedback. Channels are arranged in five power groups, and their fuses, resistors and links must match the selected circuit. DIN rail mounting supports horizontal or vertical installation.

What is the main purpose of T8842?
It provides configurable field terminations for the Trusted zone interface and valve monitor modules. It handles the physical field connections and selected conditioning circuits; it is not a standalone processor or an independently configured I/O module. -
Do all forty channels use identical fuses?
No. The manufacturer assigns 50 mA, 315 mA and 2 A TE5 components to different protection or linking roles. The required positions depend on analogue input, digital input, digital output or fire-loop configuration. -
Is field power unnecessary when every channel is an input?
No. The installation instructions require field power even in an all-input configuration. The cable arrangement determines whether that power connects at the chassis cable end or at the termination assembly. -
How are latching fire detectors reset?
The documented arrangement uses the first channel of a group as a controlled supply for the other seven channels. Check the complete circuit, including its 2 A switched-group limit, 96 mA loop limit at 24 V and at least 50 mA load on the supply channel. -
Can the field-supply rating be replaced by the output rating?
No. The specification lists 2.52 A maximum field-supply current per group, while the digital-output section separately describes an 8 A output-group limit. These describe different paths and configurations, not interchangeable supply ratings. -
Which mounting arrangements are documented?
The assembly can mount horizontally or vertically on TS32 or TS35 DIN rail. Use the approved cabinet drawing and maintain the access, environmental conditions and field wiring requirements for the installed equipment. -
Are the displayed dimensions and weight shipping values?
No. The 110 x 360 x 68 mm outline includes mounting rail and connectors, and 950 g is the specified equipment mass. Actual packaging dimensions and gross shipment weight require a separate check. -
Can the existing SmartSlot links be copied without checking?
No. The manual says SmartSlot operation is no longer performed on the VFTA. Check its section 4.9 and the applicable cable instructions; do not carry unused links or old channel settings into a replacement automatically.
