The unit integrates six high-speed counters (maximum counting frequency 30 kHz) and four alarm inputs, as well as two analog potentiometers for process setting. For communication, the CPU supports MPI, PPI, and serial data exchange, with a maximum communication rate of 187.5 kbit/s. Regarding hardware expansion capabilities, the CPU can connect to up to seven expansion modules, expanding digital I/O to up to 168 points and analog I/O channels to up to 35. The power supply section supports 120V AC or 230V AC input and can provide 24V DC (maximum 280mA) encoder power to external sensors, but this output has short-circuit protection.
The digital input is 24V DC with an adjustable input delay (0.2ms to 12.8ms). The digital output is relay-type, with a maximum switching current of 2A per point (resistive load) and a maximum total current of 10A per group, but the output points themselves do not have short-circuit protection. This device can operate in ambient temperatures from 0°C to 55°C when horizontally installed and from 0°C to 45°C when vertically installed. The product has an IP20 protection rating, dimensions of 120.5 mm wide, 80 mm high, and 62 mm deep, and weighs approximately 410 grams. It should be noted that Siemens is phasing out the S7-200 series; this model is the predecessor to the subsequent S7-200 SMART or S7-1200 series. When selecting new products for new projects, it is recommended to refer to current mainstream product series.
