Description

The ICS Triplex T7481 is a monitored guarded digital output module manufactured by ICS Triplex under Rockwell Automation. It is built for the Trusted safety system platform and is compatible with Regent and Regent+Plus low-density I/O configurations. The module provides 16 channels of 24 V DC guarded outputs with integrated line monitoring and fault detection. It is certified to DIN 19250 / AK5 and TÜV Risk Class 5, making it suitable for safety instrumented systems (SIS), emergency shutdown (ESD), and fire and gas applications in oil and gas, petrochemical, and power generation facilities.

Control data reaches the module through a triplicated Safetybus interface. Three independent data streams are routed to separate voter circuits, which then feed FPGAs that manage the output switches. The T7481 module contains 16 guarded output circuits, divided into two independent groups of eight channels each. Each channel employs a dual-redundant switch architecture in which series-connected semiconductor switches are driven by independent control signals. This arrangement ensures that no single internal fault can cause an output to energize unintentionally. If one switch fails, the remaining switch maintains the output in a safe state or continues correct control.

The module performs automatic line monitoring on each output circuit. Diagnostic circuitry injects low-level test pulses into the field wiring to detect open-circuit and short-circuit conditions without actuating the load. When a wiring fault or blown fuse occurs, the module reports the condition through front-panel indicators and system status registers. Individual LEDs display module fault/active state, shutdown status, and per-point output and load/fuse fault conditions. Fuses are accessible from the front panel for maintenance.
